Better Driver

My driving skills has become better after one month! That's an accomplishment for me, hehe! Now I am more confident unlike before that my heart is thumping whenever I sit on the driver's seat and hold the steering wheel. I was so nervous then. But, it's different now. Now, I am able to go to places outside Marikina City. And to give you examples, I was able to go to Estrel's in Tomas Morato to get this cake for my nephew's birthday.

And I was also able to go to my former work area, Ortigas, to visit my friend and colleague and had my CPU repaired :)...and had lunch in Megamall while my car was parked.

For me it's quite a feat!

Some Premiere Jewelry Items That You Can Gift To Your Mother

There is no love in this world that is considered to be greater than what a mother gives to her children. With this in mind, it is no surprise that most children feel indebted to their mothers once they have grown up and come into their own lives. While there is nothing that you can do that will ever compare to what your mother has done for you over the years, you can still show her that you realize this and appreciate all her efforts in bringing you up. The perfect way of showing this appreciation is to gift her some items of premiere jewelry. The biggest thing with premiere jewelry is that they are not only beautiful but also last for a very long time. Hence, with premiere jewelry gifts, you would be making your mother’s life more beautiful while, at the same time, ensuring that she has something to cherish for years to come. Here are some premiere jewelry items that you can gift to your mother.

  1. Premiere jewelry with birthstones:
Gifting your mother premiere jewelry with birthstones in it is one of the most symbolic gifts you can ever give to her. As per certain cultures, birthstones have the ability to bring a good deal of luck, peace and tranquility to a person’s life. Therefore, when you gift premiere jewelry to your mother with her birthstone in it, you are basically returning to her all the peace and joy that she gave you when you were a child.
  2. Classic premiere jewelry:
Your mother would appreciate your efforts especially if she knew that you have gone out of your way to make sure that she likes the gift. Therefore, you should try your level best to buy her premiere jewelry that is akin to the kind she used to wear in her youth.
  3. Necklaces with pendants and name tags:
Necklaces with charm pendants and name tags are usually gifted on particularly special occasions or milestones because they are more like symbols. Therefore, if the occasion is something special then you should try to gift your mother necklaces with charm pendants or name tags.

Fried Rice and Salmon Balls

This is the breakfast I prepared today :) Very easy to prepare, healthy and soooo yummy!

Fried Rice Recipe

1 small white onion chopped
1 tbsp oil (I use canola)
1 tbsp soy sauce

3. Add soy sauce to taste. Serve hot :)

Salmon Balls Recipe:

1 can Salmon (bones removed)
1 white onion chopped
1-2 eggs beaten

Quest: California Maki

I am starting to have the courage to make some dishes that I never thought I will ever do. I see this as my quest for something new. And to begin this quest, I tried making California maki. Honestly, I don't like sushi or maki because I don't like eating raw fish which is the usual filling of sushi. And the seaweed, nori, gave me an unpalatable aftertaste when I tried to eat one. But now that I am trying my best to make bento snack for my daughter, I was surprised to see my self, buying a pack of nori and actually made this dish, LOL!

Anyway, here are the pictures of the quest:

the sushi mat, ready for the quest.

The sushi mat with the nori sheet

The fillings: cucumber slices, mango slices and crab sticks

since I didn't have sushi rice available, I made do with my brown rice, mixed with glutinous rice. It turned out good!

The complete mixture ready for rollin'!
(I sprinkled some toasted sesame seeds to add flavor)

the rolled mixture ready to be sliced.

Finally, the finished product....Ahem! :)

I'm a proud mom, grinning from ear to ear upon seeing the finished product. It was a success though I didn't add vinegar to the rice. I never thought making this dish is as easy as 1-2-3!

Bento #5 - Baked Mac

My daughter requested not to bring rice this time so I packed her still carb but not rice. I'm still lacking the materials for a better bento but I'm hoping that as time goes I will be able to come up with cute bentos ^_^

Contents: Baked mac, pieces of bread pan with ranch dressing as dip and one piece of jewel chocolate to boost her to eat everything, hehe!

Bento #4 - Similing Heart Sausages & A Star

This is just a simple "bento" i did for my daughter's baon. Didn't have so much to prepare and the lack of decorations is because I am in so much rush, hehe.

Contents: Star shaped brown rice, mango cubes in a separate food dish and smiling heart shaped sausages.

Bento #3 - Octodogs and Sprinkles

This is my 3rd try to make my daughter's bento (I was not able to take a photo of my second try) I actually did this in a rush since I overslept and wake up a little bit late :)). I also don't know if this can be considered a real bento, since it doesn't have the "art" hehe!

Contents: (left stash) mini kiwi skewers, 3 pieces octodog: hotdog that looks like an octopus, but I didn't have time to make the face from a nori sheet so I just stick on a pair of candy sprinkles for their eyes, hehe. My daughter love this, and I'm sure your kids will love this too. So if you want to make one, you can find the tutorial here.

up close: the 3 octodogs :))

(Right stash) star shaped wheat bread spread with butter and topped with candy sprinkles, and half of a hard boiled (star-shape) egg. Fresh milk for her drinks.

I know I still have a lot to learn about bento but what I can say for now is, I am having fun and my daughter is also enjoying her colorful lunchbox every day.

Lucky Blackberry

Last night I almost broke my band mate’s phone. Thank God, I didn’t, hehe. I was not able to download copies of mp3s of the songs that we are rehearsing so I borrowed her phone so I can listen first before rehearsing. It accidentally slipped from my hands and it fell! Good thing, it fell on the floor which is carpeted, I was saved. I told her that I will give her blackberry case for her phone so it will be protected especially to a clumsy person like me, hehe.

Starting Bento

Preparing a pre-schooler's "baon" everyday can be tiring and challenging. Sometimes, with the lack of time and preparation I just send her to school with a pack of cookies and a yogurt drink in tetra pack..which I admit, a not so good habit. So I searched for ways to make healthy baon and ways to encourage her to eat them everyday and came out with a suggestion---make her lunch box an art or the bento style. My sister was already doing this to her daughter and guess what? I was encouraged to do it as well. I find it fun and enjoyable!

Here's my first attempt to make a snack bento for my daughter:

Contents: Chicken sandwich cut in small squares for ease of munching, chocolate chips cookies with nips toppings, floral hot dog with sunny side up quail egg in the middle, carrots and cucumber sticks with Caesar salad dressing

I haven't purchased materials yet for a real bento lunch so I'm planning to go to Saizen for them. I'm an excited mom here...and hoping that this way, my pre-schooler will be able to enjoy eating her bento baon :)

The Best Hand Cream for The Best Hands

When a woman becomes a home maker and mother, her priorities changes and that sometimes means forgetting about her own self for the sake of her family. It also means, becoming vain is one of her least priority, and pampering herself even with a foot spa or the best hand cream can be too much. But that shouldn’t be the case, right?

As we aged, we also have to be taking good care of our body more. And as moms, who work endlessly, we should not be neglecting our selves specially our bodies and particularly, our skin. When a woman reached the age of 30 her skin changes and that’s when they need to eat well, take supplements like vitamin E, and of course used moisturizer for their skin. Our hands are the part of our body that we sometimes forget. And our hands since it does a lot of work, needs proper care. We shouldn’t be relying on products like dish washing liquid who claims to have vitamin E. We should use the proper product, like hand lotions or creams to keep our hands soft, smooth and moisturized.

A mother’s hands are there not only to do the laundry, to cook the food, or tidy the mess around the house. It’s also a mother’s hand that calms her child and expresses how much she loves them. The reason that we should take good care of our hands more.
